4.04: Time for some thrilling heroics.

The Mainframe populace go about their business as usual, if disturbingly cheerfully. The air is filled with cars and zipboards, not CPUs and tanks.

Everything's quiet, more or less.

Of course, given the group that's just coming in from Milliways, that's not liable to last long.

First through the door is their native guide, ready to explain features of his world or give directions to the bathroom if anyone forgot to go before.

Bruck glances around when he steps through the door. A hallway. A pretty normal hallway, even if it might look a little...odd. "So...where are we, Enzo?"

"My house. It's in Beverly Hills. That's my room," he adds, pointing to one door; it's closed, though.

"Ah...your door opened from the hall into the Bar, then?" I can see why he was so upset when he saw it glowing...

Oracle spends the first few moments a bit distracted. She has legs again, after all. Of a sort anyway. There's a big smile on her face as she looks around.

"So, this is Mainframe?"

"Uh-huh. My house."

It's a fairly ordinary upstairs hallway, decorated in a style that manages to be retro and slightly futuristic both at once. It's also covered in patches of glowing green veiny things.

The glowing green things are carefully examined. "Is this the virus?"

Tommy's immediately on the alert the second he walks through the door. For all that they're in a relatively safe place, experience has taught him that this has the potential to change very quickly. You don't survive as long as Tommy has in his profession without a healthy measure of caution.

That's not to say that he's not fascinated, of course. Now that he's gotten over the initial reaction his power had to the transition from matter to energy, he's feeling much better. Being in Mainframe, a place where a body like his current one actually belongs, helps.

"Very interesting," he murmurs. "I'm guessing this is your house, Enzo?"

Tommy's not entirely sure what he'd been expecting, but for all that the environment is different, it's still... well, normal.

Normal except for the pulsing green light-tendrils all over everything. Enzo nods.

"What is this stuff?" he asks, examining the tendrils creeping over a wall. He's not touching them, of course. "And I never got around to asking you where we're going to be forming ourselves into teams and getting our gear ready. This hardly seems like the place."

They're in a hallway, after all. Tommy would feel more comfortable knowing that they're going to have some space to get set up and make sure that things are working properly.

An obscenely large stack of crates enters.

It's followed by... another obscenely large stack of crates.

After a number of them have passed through, they're joined by a brightly coloured little girl with a mischievous grin, who turns around to levitate the last few through.

The hallway now looks a bit like a box-fort, but without any door. This may turn out to be a problem. From within the fort, a muffled voice says, "Help?"

An icon was thrown through the door courtesy one of Kitt's open doors in the bar proper. In midair, the icon activated and from it grew Kitt's emulator: Kitt in sprite form.

"Good heavens," he murmured and dusted himself off - for all he knew he didn't need to. "This is different."

Enzo grins; that was cool. "You all functional? Careful of the boxes."

One wall of the hall is lined floor-to-ceiling with Matilda's firework crates; they're the only objects present that aren't covered with glowing green veins of infection.

Marian was distracted by her greenishness, here and there, when she wasn't staring in awe at the everything she'd walked into.

"This definitely isn't like back home."

Enzo cocks his head. "What's your house like?"

Directions to the loo isn't really necessary for Strahan. We don't think.

Still, it always helps to know.

"So. This your home."

"Uh-huh." It's quite a nice place, too; even the hallway is big enough that everyone can fit despite the crates of explosives. Dot owned, well, most of the system even before she officially ran it.

Hellboy looks around and nods, "Nice digs. We fightin in here? Just gotta warn you, there's gonna be property damage, hope you're insured."

"No, this is my house. The PO's right in the middle of the system. Try not to damage it, though, that'd hurt Mainframe too."

He was the last through the door, but when he got through, he was all business.

"Enzo, where are the zipboards? We need to get moving," Danny said.

Not that he needed one, but some of the others did.

"Down in the garage," Enzo replies.

And taking up the rear of our motley group, the two bots pop in through the door and peer around the house. They've been here before, and right now Slash is trying to get Hack calmed down.

Dey gotta job to do. Help these guys however possible and hopefully save Miss Dot.

And finally finally, Frisket, sniffing, growling, and occasionally sneezing at the patches of infection on the floor.


"Okay, everyone here?" calls Enzo. "Follow me."

He leads the way down the stairs (pausing as necessary for Matilda to manoeuvre her crates down) and through the house to the garage. It looks approximately like any garage on most Earths, except that the car has no tires. They're not missing, it's just not designed to have them.

Enzo points out a shelf that's too high for him to reach easily. "There's the zipboards. Everyone take one if you can't fly by yourself."

Bruck takes one, and looks at it. "I...stand on this, right?" Pause. "And it flies?" He deploys it on the floor, and steps aboard...slightly unsteady at first. "Cool!"

Easily impressed? Perhaps. But also...it's just plain cool.
